Twitter ruffled some publishers’ feathers by removing share counts for Tweets. Normally, at the top, bottom, or side of an article like this one, you will see social share buttons. These almost always include Twitter & also usually include a number indicating how many times that article was shared on a given social network.

You can see how this is helpful for bloggers, publishers, & researchers. Social credibility can influence readers’ opinions & may encourage them to share as well. You can still get your share counts if you’re willing to pay, of course. For those of us who were enjoying the free info, Twitter has a message for you:
